Husband and wife team Keith and Lisa Barron have been the proud owners of Barron’s Home Appliance Centre since 1998. To this day you will still find both of them as General & Shop Managers, working alongside their team of Professional Technicians, Sales Representatives, and Administrators to offer Central Vancouver Island the very best possible service in the major appliance industry.
Miranda Short – CFO
Miranda joined the company as our bookkeeper in 2008. Now our Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Miranda holds a diploma in Business Administration with a major in Accounting, and continues her studies towards a Bachelor of Commerce degree, with an eventual designation as a Certified Public Accountant. She is a highly valued member of our team, keeping all of the behind the scenes data flowing smoothly.
John Rowe - Assistant General Manager
John started as an Electrician Apprentice who became an In-Shop Technician for Barron’s in 2017. With his good natured, energetic personality, John quickly became an integral member of our team. He now uses his excellent management and communication skills in his new role as Assistant General Manager. John also works with staff and local officials as head of our Health and Safety Committee.
Delia Wong - Financial Administrator
Delia joined Barron’s in 2016 as our Senior Bookkeeper and Financial Administrator. Delia has 15 years of experience and is a certified administrator and bookkeeper. Delia’s kind and even-keeled character gives the entire staff “safe anchor” in the day-to-day running of the store.
Maranda Hale - IT & Marketing Specialist
Maranda holds an Associate Degree In Graphic Design with 7 years of customer relations and Information Technology experience. She started in 2020 in our Service Department assisting in warranty dispatches, and also takes care of our branding and marketing.
Nicole Scharbach - Sales Manager
Nicole joined our company as a Customer Service Representative in 2015. With her many years of sales and service experience, Nicole continues to impress both customers and staff with her friendly, helpful approach. As our event planner, Nicole keeps the team’s spirits high. She is also an asset on our Health And Safety Committee.
Paul Barron Sr. – Service Manager
Brother to our owner Keith Barron, Paul was recruited in 2001 to head up the Barron’s Service Department. As our service manager, Paul oversees our entire staff of Certified Road Technicians and, as most of our customers know, is the official “voice” of Barron’s Service Centre. With his good natured, easy-going character Paul is well loved by staff, distributors, manufacturers, and customers alike.
Heather Eaton – Assistant Service Manager
Heather is our talented liaison between our customers and technicians. Heather attended an administration program at SAIT in Calgary and has extensive bookkeeping and customer relations experience. With her calm demeanor and level-headed attitude, she has quickly become an asset to our Service Department.
Tristan Scott - Parts Manager
With an extensive background in shipping, receiving and parts, Tristan joined our team in 2017 as our Parts Manager. With Tristan’s expertise, Barron’s Parts department is being expanded and modernized.
Greg Gamble - Nationally Certified Technician
Greg is our senior technician and has been with our company since 2001. Greg is a Red Seal, nationally certified technician with both a CFC Refrigeration Licence and a Level C Gas Ticket for appliance repair. He specializes in high end appliance installations and his work has been featured in many house and home magazines.
Paul Barron Jr. - B.Comp.SC
Jesse Flowerdew - Certified Technician
Jesse has been with our company since 2007 and is our second senior technician. He is provincially certified with a CFC Refrigeration Licence, an HVAC Certification, and a Level C Gas Ticket. With his vast experience, Jesse is a value member of our service team.
John Frame - Nationally Certified Technician
John has been with us since 2007 and is a Certified Technician with a CFC Refrigeration Licence. He is a favourite with our customers who appreciate his attention to detail and his dedication to repairing appliances in a courteous, professional manner.
Ken Fraser - Certified Technician
Ken is a Certified Technician with a CFC Refrigeration Licence. He is praised by our customers for his easygoing personal service. Ken has been with our company since 2008 and continues to be helpful and informative to clients and staff alike.
David Buchanan - Provincially Certified Technician
David is a provincially certified technician with a CFC Refrigeration Licence and an HVAC Certification. David joined our team in 2014 and continues to work full time as an appliance technician at the same time as working towards his Journeyman Certification. Our customers love him.
Jake Skocic - Red Seal Appliance Technician
Jake is a Red Seal, Nationally Certified Technician who has been with our company since 2015. Jake has both a CFC Refrigeration Licence and a Level C Gas Ticket in appliance repair. With his great enthusiasm, and fun spirit, Jake quickly became one of our customers’ favourite technicians.
Kyle Stephen - Provincially Certified Technician
Kyle is in his 4th year as a certified plumbing apprentice. He holds a CFC Refrigeration Licence and is working towards a Level B Gas Fitters Certification. Kyle joined our team in 2016 and has fast become a customer favorite.
Joel Smith - Appliance Technician
Joel joined us as an In-Shop technician in 2019 and is working towards his HVAC Red Seal Certificate. He is also a member of our Health And Safety Committee, ensuring safety standards are met in our shop. Joel now services appliances as a road technician, and our customers love his professional and positive attitude.
Connor Nicolson - Appliance Technician
We welcomed Connor to our team in 2019 and he has quickly become an asset in our shop. Connor methodically assesses machines and effectively finds solutions. His auto-mechanics experience has helped jump-start his career as an Appliance Technician at Barron’s. He now services appliances in-home for customers, and they appreciate his professionalism and efficiency.
Brian MacNeil – Electronics Manager
Brian has been a cherished family friend since 1971. He relocated to Nanaimo in 2012 to establish the Barron’s Electronics Department. With a dedicated background in electronics manufacturing and a diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology, Brian has successfully elevated his department to the impressive status of being the only Electronic Board Repair Clinic in Western Canada. The Barron’s Electronics Department now proudly serves customers across all of North America.
Chris Van Zandwyk - Assistant Shop Manager
Chris joined the company back in 2014. Also a family member, Chris is in charge of smoothly running our shop while also facilitating in appliance repairs. With his years of customer service experience, he serves as a lively and energetic intermediary between the Barron’s Service Department, the Technicians, and the Administration Team alike. Chris has quickly become a customer favourite and is our undisputed ambassador of fun!
David Briones - In Shop Technician
David joined our family part time in 2015. Since then, David has become a full time member of the team, and is a much valued Shop Technician. David has expanded his knowledge by completing his 3rd year HVAC and CFC Refrigeration Certificates. He is a creative member of our team, and loves participating in our holiday contests and events.
Joyce came to Barron’s in 2015 and is in charge of quality control in the Refurbished Appliance Department. She adds a softer and more balanced touch to our shop. She is a much loved mother figure to our younger staff and a caring friend to all.
